Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) Course Outline

Duration: Twelve (12) weeks
Entrance Requirements: Experienced welder at the Journeyman level, at least four (4) years.
Tuition Fee: $3,600
Maximum Student Capacity: 16
Requirements for Successful Completion: Pass four(4)-position bend or radiograph test
*Upon successful competion of the program,the student is awarded with a certificate.


Objective:

At the end of the program the student shall be able to:

  1. Identify the correct polarity for the FCAW process.
  2. List the advantages and disadvantages of FCAW.
  3. Define the FCAW process.
  4. Define metal transfer for the FCAW process.
  5. Describe the three (3) modes of transfer for the FCAW process.
  6. Identify the equipment used for the FCAW process.
  7. Set up and operate wire feeers.
  8. Know the gases used in the FCAW process.
  9. Become familiar with different wires for the FCAW process.
  10. Make quality welds in the four (4) positions.
