Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) Course Outline

Duration: Four (4) weeks
Entrance Requirements: Experienced welder at the Journeyman level, at least four (4) years.
Tuition Fee: $1,200
Maximum Student Capacity: 16
Requirements for Successful Completion: Pass four(4)-position bend or radiograph test
*Upon successful competion of the program,the student is awarded with a certificate.


Objective:

At the end of the program the student shall be able to:

  1. Define the GMA welding process.
  2. Identify the correct polarity to use for the GMAW process.
  3. List the advantages and disadvantages of GMAW.
  4. Define metal transfer for the GMAW process.
  5. Describe the three (3) methods of metal transfer.
  6. Identify the equipment used in the GMAW process.
  7. Know the gases used in the GMAW process.
  8. Make quality welds in the four (4) positions. (Flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
