High Pressure Pipe Welding Course Outline
| Duration: | Six (6) Months |
| Tuition Fee: | $7,800 |
Entrance requirements | Students are expected to have good hand/eye coordination, good eyesight, and to be in good physical condition. A 6" Sch. 80 carbon steel 6G pipe ticket and a four (4) position Dept. of Labour or CWB plate ticket, or be able to demonstrate the ability to do so. |
* This course is composed of two three (3) month courses, devoted to the GTAW and SMAW processes of high pressure pipe welding.
Course Objective:
This program is to prepare the welder for the rigorous demands of industry for high quality x-ray work according to ASME section IX boiler and pressure vessel code and other governing codes.
Course Expectation:
Students will be required to pass written tests on GTAW and SMAW pipe welding, math and blueprints. Students will also be required to pass a 6" Sch. 80 carbon steel F3 F4 bend test before moving on to the GTAW processa,d a Department of Labour plate test including various pipe sizes 2"-12" and various schedules, 20-80. Practice will include 2", 6" and 12" diameter pipes as well as schedules 20, 40 and 80 pipe. Electrodes used for training shall be E6010, E6011 and E7018, F3 and F4. All shop testing shall be visually inspected and bend tested. Students are required to be in full attendance to achieve full credit for the program.
