Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) Course Outline

Duration: Four (4) weeks
Entrance Requirements: Experienced welder at the Journeyman level, at least four (4) years.
Tuition Fee: $1,200
Maximum Student Capacity: 16
Requirements for Successful Completion: Pass four(4)-position bend or radiograph test
*Upon successful competion of the program,the student is awarded with a certificate.
*Students may be tested by outside agencies, ie. Department of Labour or CWB.


OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the program the student shall:

  1. Define GTA Welding.
  2. Identify the equipment and supplies involved with GTAW.
  3. Identify the various parts of a GTAW torch.
  4. Identify the safety aspects of GTAW.
  5. Become proficient in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
